Beyond the Medication™

Taking a GLP-1? Learn How to Nourish Your Body—Not Just Eat Less.

Your medication can change your appetite. It can't replace nourishment

GLP-1 medications can change appetite, fullness, cravings, and even the constant “food noise” that may have made eating feel exhausting.

But eating less isn’t automatically the same as nourishing yourself well.

And quieter food noise doesn’t necessarily mean the thoughts, rules, fears, or behaviors surrounding food have disappeared.

Beyond the Medication™ helps you learn how to nourish your body, protect your relationship with food, and build sustainable habits while using a GLP-1 medication.

Whether you’re just starting a GLP-1, have been taking one for months, or are wondering what happens if your medication changes in the future, this program teaches you how to use the medication as an adjunct to change — rather than the only thing creating it.

You were prescribed the medication.

But were you taught how to eat while taking it?

Many people receive extensive information about dosing, side effects, and weight changes…

…but very little guidance about:

  • How much nutrition your body still needs when hunger disappears

  • How to prioritize protein, carbohydrates, fats, fluids, and micronutrients

  • What to do when you get full after only a few bites

  • How to tell the difference between reduced appetite and chronic under-fueling

  • How to respond when “food noise” decreases

  • How to create new behaviors while the medication makes them easier to practice

  • How to recognize when healthy intentions are becoming rigid food rules

  • How to protect yourself from slipping into restrictive or disordered eating patterns

  • How to build habits that aren't completely dependent on medication

That’s the gap Beyond the Medication™ was created to fill.

Introducing the N.O.U.R.I.S.H.™ Framework

A practical approach to supporting your nutrition, behaviors, and relationship with food while using GLP-1 medication.

N — Nourish despite reduced appetite

Learn how to adequately fuel and nourish your body even when hunger and appetite are reduced. Your appetite may change, but your body's need for energy, protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and hydration doesn't disappear.

O — Observe your patterns

Become curious about your eating patterns without judgment. Explore what influenced your eating before starting medication—and what has changed since—including hunger, emotions, stress, habits, restriction, environment, and food rules.

U — Understand food noise

Learn what "food noise" means for you and how it differs from physical hunger, cravings, emotional eating, habits, and restriction-driven food preoccupation. Use the quieter space medication may provide as an opportunity to better understand your relationship with food.

R — Retain muscle and strength

Support lean mass, strength, function, and recovery through adequate nutrition, sufficient protein and carbohydrates, resistance training, and recovery. The goal isn't simply to become smaller—it's to protect and support the body you're living in.

I — Identify restrictive patterns

Recognize when reduced appetite may be shifting toward intentional restriction, fear of hunger, rigid food rules, excessive exercise, or preoccupation with eating less. Learn to identify behaviors that may warrant additional nutrition, medical, or eating-disorder support.

S — Strengthen sustainable behaviors

Use medication as an opportunity to practice skills that extend beyond appetite suppression. Build consistent nourishment, flexible eating, coping strategies, food confidence, and behaviors that support your physical and emotional well-being.

H — Have a long-term strategy

Develop nutrition and behavioral skills that remain valuable as your needs change. Learn how to respond to fluctuations in hunger and food noise, recognize when additional support is needed, and create a plan that supports you whether your medication continues, changes, or is discontinued with your medical provider.

This program may be for you if…

You’re taking a GLP-1 medication and:

  • You frequently realize you've barely eaten all day.

  • You struggle to meet your protein or nutrition needs.

  • Food feels unappealing because you're rarely hungry.

  • You become full very quickly.

  • You're worried about losing muscle along with weight.

  • Your eating has become increasingly restrictive.

  • You're afraid that eating “too much” will prevent the medication from working.

  • You're enjoying the decrease in food noise but want to address the behaviors underneath it.

  • You want to build habits that last beyond the medication itself.

  • You have a history of dieting and don't want this to become another cycle of restriction.

  • You want evidence-informed nutrition guidance without shame, fear tactics, or rigid food rules.

Medication-assisted behavior change & medication-dependent behavior are not the same thing.

Beyond the Medication™ helps you use that quieter space to practice skills you can actually carry forward:

making balanced food choices,

creating consistent nourishment,

recognizing your body's needs,

challenging all-or-nothing thinking,

supporting muscle and physical health,

and developing a relationship with food that isn't dictated by either constant food noise or complete appetite suppression.

What You'll Learn

Inside Beyond the Medication™, we'll cover topics such as:

GLP-1s + Your Body
What appetite suppression, delayed gastric emptying, fullness, food noise, and changing intake can mean for nutrition.

Eating When You Aren't Hungry
How to create enough structure to meet your body's needs when appetite isn't giving you reliable reminders.

Nutrition Priorities
Protein, carbohydrates, dietary fat, hydration, fiber, vitamins and minerals — and why focusing on protein alone isn't enough.

Protecting Lean Mass
How adequate energy, nutrition, and resistance training work together to support muscle preservation.

Restriction vs. Reduced Appetite
How to recognize when “I'm just not hungry” may be turning into chronic under-fueling.

Food Noise + Behavior Change
How to take advantage of reduced food preoccupation to practice new habits and coping skills.

Diet Culture on GLP-1s
Why smaller isn't always better — and how “eat as little as possible” thinking can undermine health.

Building Your Long-Term Strategy
Creating behaviors that can support you through dose changes, plateaus, maintenance, or future conversations with your medical provider.

This is not another diet.

There are no “good” and “bad” food lists.

No requirement to eliminate carbohydrates.

No competition to see how little you can eat.

No promise that hunger is something you should eliminate forever.

And no belief that your health can be summarized by the number on a scale.

The goal is to help you become better nourished, more informed, and more confident in caring for your body while using medication.

Created by an Eating Disorder–Informed Registered Dietitian

Beyond the Medication™ was created through a nutrition lens that recognizes something often missing from GLP-1 conversations:

Intentional weight-management treatment and eating-disorder prevention do not have to exist in opposition.

You deserve access to nutrition education that acknowledges the potential benefits of medication while also recognizing the risks of inadequate intake, rigid food rules, muscle loss, chronic restriction, and an increasingly disconnected relationship with your body.

This program is designed to help you navigate that middle ground.
